Farm Bureau Insurance

Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance History

Back in 1946, the dedicated leaders of five Farm Bureau Federations followed through on their vision of meeting another widespread need of Southern farmers—life insurance. Through excellent planning and organization, and the active support of the farming communities themselves, the new institution called Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company began operations in an old two-story building in downtown Jackson, Mississippi.  Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company's initial mission was to serve farmers and ranchers, their families, and citizens associated with the farm industry by providing reasonably priced life insurance.  As the Company's mission of serving Farm Bureau members expanded, so did the kinds of insurance policies that we offer.

Our resources may have been limited, but our course was set—to meet the needs of Farm Bureau members and become a strong company for a better future.  Through focused management, the Company quickly enjoyed tremendous growth.

We’ve long since moved from that old two-story brick building.  We now use computer technology to make our network more efficient, and a sophisticated infrastructure keeps the company centered and organized.  But our focus is still on the Farm Bureau member.  You can find us all across The South in ten states—Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.  Our offices provide services to policyholders in small towns like Madison, Florida, and Anderson, South Carolina; parishes like Lafourche in Louisiana; as well as cities like Baton Rouge and Jacksonville.  We’ve embraced the needs of a wide range of policyholders from a wide range of places, yet remained consistent in our vision for quality customer service and a strong company.  Now the Company offers many different types of insurance coverage, but the primary mission is unchanged. Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company is here to serve the needs of families across The South.
